INTERN REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 15 years old and have completed the 9th grade. The Element YMCA Camp Internship program provides participants the opportunity to gain on-the-job training, develop leadership skills, explore different aspects of the camp program and become part of the camp family.

SESSIONS FOR INTERNS
SCI 1 - June 30-July 5
SCI 2 - July 14-26

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Skate Camp Internship (SCI) program provides participants the opportunity to gain on-the-job training, develop leadership skills, explore different aspects of the camp program and become part of the camp family. SCI's will have specific job duties that are vital functions of the overall camp program. The Assistant Camp Director and Program Staff Specialist directly supervise SCI's. QUALIFICATIONS FOR PARTICIPATION
Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 15 years old and have completed the 9th grade
  • Attended camp before OR have equivalent experience
  • Be interviewed and approved by the Camp Director
  • Commit to attending at least one two session of camp
  • Enjoy working with children and have a positive attitude
  • Be able to pay all SCI fees OR qualify for a "Campership" by completing all of the necessary paperwork
Applicants are selected on the basis of experience, maturity and commitment. Sessions and positions will be assigned based on the needs of the camp and the applicant. Final placement is at the discretion of the Camp Director.

Rates are the same as that for campers, please reference the Schedule and Prices.

OTHER INTERNSHIPS AVAILABLE:

MEDIA INTERN
Assisting the Media Director with the production of the weekly camp video and online magazine. Interns can expect to film, log footage and edit captured video using Final Cut Pro or iMovie. Interns must bring their own equipment (camera, etc.). Skate Camp is not liable for wear and tear damage or loss of any personal equipment. Editing equipment is provided.

ELEMENTAL AWARENESS INTERN
Assist certified Elemental Awareness (Wilderness Awareness Program) instructors in the delivery of the Elemental Awareness program. Additional training and experiences are provided upon evaluation of the Interns skill and initiative. You must have participated in Elemental Awareness during a session of skate camp in a previous year to apply for this internship.
